COVID-19 Updates; Rulebooks to be reused next season
As we continue to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic I want to pass along this announcement from the National Federation of State High School Associations regarding Baseball Rule and Case Books for 2020 and 2021. So be sure to hang onto your 2020 Rule and Case books to be used next year.
Your State Baseball Executive Committee will continue to pass along updates on these events as they take place and provide you with the latest information as we receive it. We are still awaiting decisions from Local Sections on the Spring Baseball Season after the announcement from New York State Public High Schools on April 27th canceling all the Spring Sports Championships for 2020. As of this writing, no decisions have been made on dues and insurance payments for our membership.

2020 NFHS Baseball Exam
The NFHS Online Exam has now closed, you can download a copy of the questions and answers for the Part I and Part II Exams below.
NFHS Exam Website Instructions

Be advised that the 2025 NFHS Baseball Exam Part 1 is now open.

You have until March 30, 2025 to complete the exam. (Part 2 will open on March 31, 2025.)

Instructions on how to access the NFHS Exam site were provided to all chapters. Please check with your Chapter President.

If you Officiate other sports and you already have an account, you will need to login and add BASEBALL to your list of Sports that you Officiate.

You are still required to achieve a score of 80% to pass the exam.
- As discussed at the October 2024 Business Meeting, an official must complete and pass the 2025 NFHS exam as part of the certification process to work the 2025 season.
Canceled! 2020 NY Umpire Clinic
CANCELED: Due to receipt of few paid registrations as of December 20, 2019, the NY Umpire Clinic scheduled for Binghamton NY on January 11, 2020 has been cancelled. All paid registrations will be returned within the next week. We wish to thank all those umpires who expressed interest in attending.
2020 NFHS Rule Changes: Expanded Designated Hitter Role Coming to High School Baseball
NOTE: This is a change to the NFHS Rulebook and a different rule than the P/DH rule implemented by NYSPHSAA starting in the 2019 season.
The role of the designated hitter in high school baseball has been expanded to give coaches an additional option for the 2020 season.
